In the example of Tumblr, even if you just want to consume content without posting anything, the reading experience is much better in the logged-in dashboard (newsfeed / activity stream) vs separately visiting random blogs that all have different themes. Some products try to solve this with a hard login wall, but that's problematic for both casual viewers as well as a portion of the content creators. This reduces the likelihood of the product being successful. That's my point though!Ĭasual web visitors to the public-facing (no account needed) portion of the product simply aren't exposed to the majority of the product, and have a sub-par experience as a result. ![]() Why should I understand Tumblr or any other product? ![]() The biggest drawback of using the cloud as a storage device is the speed, which is limited to whatever your internet speed is. We’ve covered making a decision between network-attached storage and cloud services before, so be sure to do your research if you’re thinking of going down this route. You can always turn to the cloud for additional storage space. To perform an upgrade, you’ll need a new SSD, a screwdriver set that matches your laptop, and a spare external drive or enclosure for your old drive, so you can clone it. Some retailers, like Other World Computing, split their kits by model and year, which makes it difficult to buy the wrong one. This Instructables guide applies to most Apple laptops, but keep in mind there will be small differences for each model. These include instructions and even video resources. In many cases, you can buy upgrade kits that include everything you need to upgrade your laptop’s storage. This renders upgrades essentially impossible, so check if your model is upgradeable before you commit to a purchase. ![]() What’s more, on the newest MacBook models, the SSD comes soldered to the logic board. Note: Keep in mind that upgrading involves opening your laptop enclosure, which will void any warranty you have on your machine. That’s why we recommend buying the biggest capacity you can afford. You can reuse the old SSD in other computers or a portable enclosure when your MacBook eventually dies. ![]() ![]() Brightness can now be adjusted in highlights, midtones, and shadows. Here’s the original color image that I worked on for this article: ![]() ![]() And even if you’re only occasionally converting a color image to black and white, you’ll find the software to be well worth the investment in time and money. The high level of control and customization available in Silver Efex Pro 2 (SEP2) make this an excellent tool for serious photographers. Some might say that the presets and other tools available in programs like Lightroom or Aperture are sufficient to create good black and white images – but I can’t agree that they are the best choice. Whether you’re considering using SEP2 for the first time, or upgrading, you’ll find that the software is well-designed – it has an intuitive interface, good balance between presets and customization, improved editing options, runs faster, and produces excellent image quality. ![]() ![]() Scan, Edit and Sign Docx, Split PDFs into multiple files, Save them, Share and more! While I personally don't use apple's stock plug-ins, they are widely recognized, (and it's true) they do the job well. ![]() With VSTS, you could get the actual midi notes out of the plug-in, and feed that to another plug-ins sound generation. Some small companies wouldn't deal with writing code for both. On the same token, I don't like that they 'force' you to only use their brand.Ĭase in point, VST/AU. Apple had to together that they made the software and hardware. This hardware card, wouldn't work with that driver, someone's software only ran on a certain card. I also had a PC, and it was almost impossible to get things to work. When Apple started up, (I started with Apple II in 1980. All of Logic's plug-ins range from decent to very good. There really wasn't much if anything of 3rd party plug-ins. They sold the virtual instruments separate (or at least some of them). I definitely agree lol! and we get even more cool stuff with each new major updates, when i first tried logic's demo it was the 10.4 version, then when i purchase it (which requires me to reinstall the app.) i got the newly released 10.5, which is like the most awesome thing ever, the new sampler taking the place of esx24 and all, i thought apple was lying when they say the demo has all the features of the purchased one, cause how come there's so much new stuff when i do purchase it? turns out it was just a major update lol! So not only was I, at some point, willing to pay $1,000 for the bundle, I found it to be a great deal. However it wasn't always the case and I remember having spent $1,000 for the initial bundle, which wasn't nearly as complete as it is today and which was already a price cut from buying the plug-ins separately before that $1,000 bundle was offered. I personally find that one of the great strengths of Logic is that it comes with all those plug-ins bundled in. ![]() It's a tough question to answer given that ![]() ![]() sudo nano /usr/share/applications/sktopĬopy and paste the following information into the above file. Visually, the Versa 2 is hard to distinguish from its predecessor. Otherwise, I had no trouble reading the screen in direct sunlight, and the deep blacks - thanks to the AMOLED panel - help fade the thick bezels around the screen out of existence. If you have the always-on display enabled, you’ll have to use the button to wake up the Versa 2 or tap on the screen. It weirdly disables the lift-to-wake function without any indication that it will no longer work, though. There’s now an always-on display, just like the new Apple Watch Series 5, and it’s nice to be able to glance at the time and activity progress without fussing with the watch. ![]() The most noticeable upgrade comes from the newly-added AMOLED display. The former offered the most comfort of the bands I tested, while the reflective band, predictably, was stiff and scratchy, though I did get used to it. I threw on the woven-leather Kim Shui designer band, as well as a reflective woven band made of recycled materials. Corey Gaskin/Digital Trendsįortunately, there are replacement bands that offer more style, functionality, and in some cases, comfort. The stiffness of the band fades away the longer you wear it, but I still found myself adjusting the Versa 2 on my wrist, more so than I would with a snugger-fitting and softer strap. These two attributes together caused me some irritation at first. The included silicone band is a different story, as the band is rather stiff and doesn’t quite hug the wrist without having to tighten it beyond a comfortable level. It feels solid, lightweight, and well-crafted.
